Little Whitefish Resort has the only boat launch on the lake and over half the lake is protected (either public land or wetlands) so your view from the property is all nature.

Little Whitefish Lake is about 700 acres with depths up to 62 feet and clarity depths of 10-17ft - perfect for a jump in the lake to cool off. This lake is known for great fishing, yet still perfect for all your favorite water sports.  You'll love the quiet atmosphere of our serene lake.

While out boating, be sure to look out for our resident loon families, and maybe will be lucky enough to see deer drinking from the lake or a bear running through the woods.  Don't forget about our national bird, the Bald Eagle soaring above, and see if you can spot their nests.

History

This resort dates all the way back to the early 1900s.  It has a wonderful history of generations of families coming to enjoy this hidden gem. Rumor has it, the railroad tycoon James Hill logged white pine from the lake, sent it via the channel that connects Little Whitefish to Mille Lacs, down through the Rum River, and eventually hitting the Mississippi to build St. Louis Missouri.

Mille Lacs

Our proximity to Mille Lacs is an added bonus of staying at our resort. An easy 90 min drive from Minneapolis/ St. Paul makes this location easily accessible and the best of both lake worlds. On one hand you have the 2nd largest Minnesotan lake (Mille Lacs) a mile drive down the road, and on the other you have a peaceful hidden gem right in your backyard! Staying at our resort on Little Whitefish gives you the benefit of calmer waters when the weather is unfavorable for Mille Lacs.
